Christ’s Glorious Prayer for You

By Teresa Ferraro

“Now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.” (John 17:5)

“The glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one;…I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.” (v. 22-23, 26)

Oh!! What that must have been like!!

The glory of God poured out on Christ: “Glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.” It seems Christ longed for it while He walked the earth and was ready to return to the Father.

This is what stands out to me at the opening portion of Christs prayer: The perfect, glorious love between Father and Son. It shines even more vibrantly when He extends it to us at the end of His prayer, imparting His Father's love to us!! No sibling rivalry here.

Read those verses again. See yourself there, and bask in that idea!

The Son of God worked to fulfill the Fathers desire; He gave His siblings (born-again believers) that wondrous glory of His Fathers, which He treasured from before creation. He secured the completion of Gods plan from the beginning: Our perfection by union with the Son and the Father.

“I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one, … that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

Regardless of how you see yourself, regardless of the status of your earthly existence, your level of spiritual understanding, or the maturity of your soul, if you are a born-again child of God, this is your eternal condition, your spiritual position: The person of Christ, the Son of God, lives in you, and you are in Him. Over 100 verses say so. Christ never leaves you. Hell never forsake you. His yoke is easy, and His burden light. Now learn of Him. Hes with you through everything. Hell get you through anything.

And the Holy Spirit—Comforter, Spirit of Truth, Teacher (John 16:13-16)—is there to renew your mind, to teach you of Christ in you, working toward the goal of maturing you to the full stature of Christ.

“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” (Gal. 5:25)

Walk in His Spirit, and remember, your eternal, spiritual reality is in Christ as Gods child. Your life is in Christ. Hes your wisdom, your strength, your righteousness, your sanctification, justification, and redemption (1 Cor. 1:30). You are hidden in Him, and any enemy has to go through Him to touch you. So the battle is won, and we already know how it ends. So stop worrying. You are safe and secure, in Christ.
